LiDAR sensors (measuring using laser) has been around for some time and for mapping it has traditionally been used from an airplane. More recently, LiDAR sensors have become smaller, lighter and more efficient allowing them to be used on drones. We use the latest drone based LiDAR technology to be able to cover large areas in a very short period of time (hours vs weeks or months when done on the ground) to capture hundreds of millions of accurate geo referenced points. When combined with other traditional survey data (existing survey points, base stations, etc…), we can generate very detailed, accurate and precise geo-referenced data.
